The social and showing highlight of my ‘rabbit year’ is the Small Livestock Championship show at Harrogate. This year was really enjoyable and the rabbits also did incredibly well. Tennleyson, orange dwarf lop came 4th out of 70 rabbits and Tin-Tin, the marten sable mini lop came 7th out of nearly 90 rabbits.
Some litters are also in the shed including sable minis, and dwarf lops in orange, black, agouti and otter.
The first major show of the year was in Harrogate. My orange dwarf lops came 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th in their class. Very pleased. Well done to Michelle who since 2009 has owned the winning orange buck.
Litters are also filling the shed after a long winter. So far there are some deep, high rufus oranges, a litter containing fawns, chocolate otters, black otters and an unexpected blue otter.
The first litters of the year are growing well and gone to new homes.
I had a lovely day at the Southern Championship show, meeting up with friends. The rabbits did very well. Tennyson took first prize out of 10 oranges, the biggest dwarf lop class, if not lop class of the show in the main show. His half brother, Tenleyson, took first place in the National French and Dwarf Lop show on the same day, again out of 10 rabbits.
Tennleyson has had a great yearwinning lots of CCs including 3 in one day at the Lincolnshire Championship Show. Will be hoping to to show progeny next year.
My marten sable mini lop also had a good year including a Best of Breed.
